Vesak and other May activities
Dear friends and supporters of Vimokkharam,
The month of May usually means it's time to focus our recollection and gratitude on the Buddha even more than usual, and we will be doing just that this upcoming Sunday, May 11th for our Vesak Celebrations - the commemoration of the birth, enlightenment and passing away of the Buddha. While this Sunday is the actual day of Vesak, and not just a Sunday celebration in place of the actual day, it also falls on Mother's Day. We will be having two separate programs to accomodate as many people as possible: a morning program starting at 10am and suitable for families and kids, and another afternoon/evening program more suitable for adults and meditators starting at 3:30pm. Please see the attached posters for your interest and feel welcome to join us.
We will be joined on Vesak by Ajahn Khantiko, a German monk ordained in Thailand who will be staying with us for a week, arriving on this Wednesday evening.
This upcoming Sunday Vesak Celebration will also be the last time to hear a Sunday afternoon Dhamma Talk from Tan Ajahn Khemānando. The following Sunday the 18th, we will be pleased to host Luangta Narongsak, a highly regarded Thai Ajahn, to preside over our Sunday program from 3pm - 5pm. Both Thai and English language translations should be available!
Ajahn Khemānando will be leaving us after the meal on Wednesday May 21st, to return to his usual monastery in Thailand.
There will be more news forthcoming for the end of May, but stay tuned for now :-)
Very best wishes,
Ajahn Hāsapañño
